Vulnerable children got the chance to cuddle baby rabbits and bottle feed a lamb as a secondary school transformed into a petting zoo for one day only.

Fluffy grey chicks, baby rats and other adorable animals caused shrieks of
delight among youngsters at Parliament Hill School, in Highgate Road, on Tuesday.

More than 50 children who work with staff from Camden-based charity Kids Company, which provides emotional support for young people under the age of 23, took part in a day of half-term activities.

The day was organised by the Alexandra Wylie Tower Foundation, a charity that works with disadvantaged children in north London in memory of Channing schoolgirl Allie, who died aged 17, in 2010.

Former Hollyoaks actress Wallis Day, who lent her support at the event, said: “I think it’s just wonderful that the charity has provided these kids with such an amazing experience.”
