Rumours of a space invasion swept across north London as astronauts mysteriously cropped up in Tube stations and parks today (Tuesday, January 8).

Early morning commuters were stopped in their tracks as more than 15 spacemen marched up Primrose Hill - echoing a scene from War Of The Worlds.

And those taking the Tube to work were astonished to find themselves sitting next to galactic cowboys wearing full oxygen masks and white suits.

Twitter was afire with conspiracy, mulling on everything from NASA training to a TV advert.

Royal Parks, which manages Primrose Hill, had not been contacted about the astronaut invasion and Transport for London (TfL) had not heard about visitors from another realm.

Fashion designer Henry Holland, who was also mystefied by the spacemen, wrote on Twitter: “Whilst training at sunrise on Primrose Hill this morning, there were 20 astronauts in full suits just wandering about. #alieninvasion?”

However, there is one person in the know.

Vicky Purnell, of Mischief PR, said on Twitter: “All will be revealed on Thursday #alieninvasion.”

Until then, north London residents are advised to listen out for any strange hums and report all low flying UFOs.
