Haringey residents will get the chance to win 500 tickets to watch the spectacular opening ceremony on big screens as the Muswell Hill landmark.

The Palace will take on an orange hue during the tournament as it becomes the home for the Dutch team and their families.

Norbert Cappetti, from Holland Heineken House, as the Palace will be known, said: “Our house will have an unique atmosphere where guests and athletes mingle with each other.

“We are known to be enthusiastic, and there will be a carnival atmosphere here throughout the games.

“We love Alexandra Palace, we love its heritage. It is truly iconic. To be able to celebrate the Olympics here in Alexandra Palace is fantastic.”

Six thousands guests will stream through the venue’s doors every day of the games, and will get to sample the best in Dutch and English cuisine sat at aptly converted table tennis tables.

Victorious athletes will drop by to show off their medals, and during the evenings bands from the Netherlands will entertain the crowds.

Mr Cappetti added: “We are trying to mix the Dutch and English cultures in the design, cuisine and crowds who are coming.

“The Olympics is such a unique, global event. It unifies the world. We are excited to share it with the Palace.”
