Plans to build 90 new homes on the site of a former magistrates’ court are to go on display.

Developer Bellway Homes will showcase proposals for the redevelopment of Haringey Magistrates’ Court and Highgate Police Station in Bishops Road tomorrow (Friday).

Details are yet to be revealed but plans are for a three-storey building, rising to seven storeys towards Archway Road.

Rachel Allison, chairman of Highgate Neighbourhood Forum, said: “We don’t have any details but it seems like an awful lot of homes on that site.

“But I am very pleased that they have decided to consult us before they put in an application.”

Bellway Homes bought the site at the end of April following the closure of the magistrates’ court in December 2012 after 56 years of handing out justice. An original building had been destroyed by a wartime bomb in 1944.

A spokesman for Bellway Homes said: “The number of units is well within the permitted density range for a site of this location and accessibility.”

Details of the proposals will go on show from 3pm until 8pm at All Saint’s Church in Talbot Road, Highgate.
