A Guinness World Record breaking comedy show is making a temporary move to the West End while their canalside pub venue gets an upgrade.
The Bridge House pub in Little Venice closed for four weeks on March 4 while owners Mitchells & Butlers carry out a "much-needed refurbishment".
The Victorian pub, which takes its name from the nearby Horse Bridge over the Grand Union Canal, has been home to the 60 seat Canal Cafe Theatre since the 1970s.
Its programme of cabaret, comedy and theatre has helped launch the careers of Miranda Hart, Eddie Izzard, The Mighty Boosh, Catherine Tate, and Dara O’Briain.
It is also home to the world's longest running live comedy show; NewsRevue a fast moving current affairs song and sketch performance that's now in its 44th year with alumni including The League of Gentlemen, Sarah Pascoe, and Bill Bailey.
The topical show, whose cast and writers work in new content every week, will now decamp to the Seven Dials Playhouse until the end of March, with according to producers "an uber talented cast of NewsRevue alumni waiting to wow audiences from a central London location".
Inspired by West End musicals, audiences can expect a witty takedown on the fiasco that was the Willy Wonka exhibition in Glasgow, Adelaide’s Lament by Vladimir Putin, and a dazzling finale parodying the show tunes of Matilda.
The pub itself dates from 1848 and sits at the junction of Westbourne Terrace and Delamere Terrace next to the Regent and Grand Union Canals. Interior features include a wooden floor, bar and panelling, while it offers an extensive food menu for lunch and dinner, and craft beer selection.
The pub's website invites regulars to "keep up to date as our exciting new look progresses" adding that it would reopen on 28th March.
"We're closed for a makeover. A brand new look is coming soon to The Bridge House. We are excited to share with you that our pub is undergoing a much-need refurbishment."
The NewsRevue featuring Alice Gold, Andrew Macmillan, Harry Rundle and Helen Cunningham will run at Seven Dials Playhouse in Tower Street, WC2 on March 8,9,15,16,17,21,22 and 23.
