A UK national has been confirmed dead by the Israeli Embassy in London after he was reported missing following a Hamas attack.
Jake Marlowe, 26, was reported missing while providing security at a music festival near Kibbutz Re’im, close to the Gaza border, on Saturday.
The former Jewish Free School (JFS) student in Kenton has been confirmed dead by the Israeli Embassy, it has emerged.
Mr Marlowe lived in north London before moving to Israel in November 2021.
His mother Lisa wrote on Facebook that she and her family were “heartbroken” after hearing the “crushing news”.
Another former JFS pupil, Nathanel Young, was also killed on the Gaza border on Saturday (October 7).
Mr Young was serving with the Israeli Defence Service at the time.
Pupils from JFS stood together in prayer on Monday (October 9) to pay respects to Mr Young and in hope that Mr Marlowe would be safe.
Headteacher Dr David Moody previously told the paper: “We are devastated at the news. We have reached out to the families of those affected this morning to pass on our condolences and our offer of support.
“It would be wrong for us to speak on behalf families at a time when they are seeking the space to grieve, but it goes without saying that we are heartbroken at what has happened.”
Talking about the service, he said: “As a school of 2,000 pupils we have stood together in prayer this morning and I know that the thoughts of every staff member and every student are with both families at this horrific time.”
