Downton Abbey star Jim Carter has once again rallied a troupe of actor friends to raise money for the Tricycle Theatre.

Carter’s wife Imelda Staunton, his West Hampstead neighbour Emma Thompson, as well as Kenneth Branagh and Derek Jacobi will appear at the Kilburn High Road venue to talk about their successful careers and show clips of their film work.

The £75 and £100 tickets will go towards the £7 million renovation project for the Tricycle’s auditorium.

Carter, who has previously organised similar fundraising Q&As for the theatre, said: “It’s a mark of the respect and affection that the Tricycle Theatre commands that all the actors on my wish list immediately agreed to support this fundraising project. We’re in for wonderful evenings full of fun and insight. It’s great to be able to give the audience the opportunity to question their favourite actors in person.”

On February 19, Carter is in conversation with Kenneth Branagh, who has directed Cinderella, Murder on the Orient Express and Henry V while also starring in numerous stage and screen roles. Also in the chair will be Sir Derek Jacobi whose five decade acting career began at the National Theatre under Laurence Olivier and has taken in two Olivier Awards, and TV and film parts.

On February 25, Emma Thompson, who has lived all her life in West Hampstead, talks about her career, from her Oscar-winning role in Howards End to Saving Mr Banks, and screenwriting credits for Sense and Sensibility and Nanny McPhee.

Currently appearing in the National Theatre’s acclaimed revival of Follies, Staunton has received numerous Olivier nods for Sweeney Todd, Gypsy and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? While screen roles include Vera Drake and Dolores Umbridge in the Harry Potter series.

Tricyle artistic director Indhu Rubasingham said: “I am deeply grateful to Jim and his wonderful, inspiring guests who are role models to us all, coming to the Tricycle. This series of conversations will also help us fundraise for the capital project, which will soon see a brand new auditorium.”
