WHO'S WHO: Sun Man the music man
Sun Man, 32, has lived in Camden Town for 29 years. His parents, originally from Hong Kong, first ran a restaurant in Covent Garden before setting up the Ray Man musical instrument business in Chalk Farm.
WHAT DO YOU MOST LIKE ABOUT THE AREA?
The different mix of people and assortment of nationalities.
WHAT IS THE WORST THING?
The drugs - over the last 10 years there's been a visible increase in the number of drug users on our streets, as well as more gangs.
WHich LOCAL BUILDING IS YOUR FAVOURITE?
The Proud Gallery - it moved from another Camden location recently to its current venue, a former horse hospital and Grade-II listed building. It has a bar, seating area, good gig venue and exhibition space with a very laid-back atmosphere.
WHICH LOCAL SHOPS ARE YOUR FAVOURITES?
Mega City - the local comic shop. I'm a fan of comics and it has a good selection of titles, mainly imported US comics. I've been going there since the late 1980s, though not as much as I used to.
WHERE ARE YOUR FAVOURITE LOCAL PLACES TO EAT AND DRINK?
There's a really nice Japanese restaurant in Morning Crescent - Asakusa - I often go there with my friends.
WHAT DO YOU DO IN THE AREA AT WEEKENDS?
I tend to hang out at the Stables Market.
IF YOU WERE MAYOR FOR A DAY, WHAT WOULD YOU CHANGE?
I would run the Underground for 24 hours a day, as in New York.
WHO WAS THE LAST CELEBRITY YOU SAW IN THE AREA?
Finlay Quaye was in here just before Christmas, he seemed friendly enough. Actually, one of our biggest celebrity clients is Coldplay, although that was in 2006. They bought a dulcimer, which is like an earlier version of the piano, played using two sticks. A dulcimer was used on their latest album. Unfortunately I missed them as I was in China at the time, but my family said they were friendly.
WHICH BOOK ARE YOU READING AT THE MOMENT?
I'm more of a comic fan. I last read The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller, which was written in the 1980s. [Highgate director] Chris Nolan's film version is loosely based on that.
how would you spend A MILLION POUNDS IN ONE DAY?
I'd travel to Japan to visit friends before heading off to either Italy or Spain for a good meal.
WHAT TIPS WOULD YOU GIVE TO A TOURIST COMING TO THE AREA, WITH LIMITED TIME?
I would tell them to head straight for the Stables Market - that's where the heart of Camden lies.
HOW HAS CAMDEN CHANGED OVER THE YEARS?
I think it's become more artistic, in particular the music scene has really taken off here. With venues such as The Roundhouse, Proud Gallery and regular annual music events such as the Camden Crawl festival, up-and-coming artists all flock to Camden to showcase their talents. In musical terms, at least, I don't think there's anywhere else in London that quite matches Camden Town.
