Inventive youngsters dazzle contest judges
editorial@hamhigh.co.uk
01 July 2005
WHEELCHAIR skis have secured three Camden primary school pupils a place in the semi-final of a national competition.
Ten-year-olds Reanna Clarke, Natasha Stein and Polly Hannett from Beckford primary in Dornfell Street, West Hampstead, created the skis and playground equipment for disabled children.
With its hovercraft movement and 'grab' claw, Natasha's pyramid is designed to aid wheelchair users in the sea and on sand.
The Ready, Willing and Mobile competition, launched earlier this year by the Mobility Roadshow, called for bright ideas from children and young people to help disabled kids on the move.
Paralympic athlete Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson will announce the winner next Thursday.
