Tributes paid to John Regan
Tributes are being paid to Primrose Hill man John Regan, whose body was found in the Regent's Canal near Camden Lock last night.
Dozens of friends of the popular Mr Regan, of Chalcot Road, have posted messages on a special Facebook page set up in his honour.
Mr Regan's devastated friends and family had conducted an intensive search after he went missing last Wednesday evening after leaving a bar on Chalk Farm Road. CCTV captured him heading towards the canal, seemingly on his way home.
Yesterday police divers searched the canal but found no trace of 30-year-old Mr Regan, raising the hopes that he could still be alive and well. His last movements and the question of how he ended up in the canal are still a mystery but police are not treating his death as suspicious.
Mr Regan, who worked as a sports analyst for the firm Star Lizard in Camden Town will be sorely missed by those who knew him both in London and in his home town of Matlock in Derbyshire.
One friend Jonathan Lake wrote on Facebook: "Jonathan Lake wrote: "A super, super nice bloke who was incredibly intelligent, interesting and funny and very unique- In short a brilliant person to be around who gave me so much happiness over the years."
Andy Smith said: "Truly devastating news. John was a smashing guy, who made everybody smile as soon as they saw him. He was a true gentleman with a real zest for life. I have truly great memories of a brilliant guy. He will be missed, my thoughts go out to all his family."
Virgil Andrew, 30 a friend and flat mate described Mr Regan this week as "the most generous, kind man you could meet. He was my best friend and like a brother to me."
Mr Regan's mother Jayne, his two sisters Jen and Janet and his older brother Paul had all come to London to help in the search.
