Somerset House Ice Rink
Established as an essential part of the Christmas season, London's most beautiful and prestigious ice rink in the Courtyard at Somerset House is back and this season's Ice Café will warm and inspire visitors with a selection of quality comfort food that is perfect to accompany a glass of delicious mulled wine or hot chocolate.
At the heart of the menu, created by Tate's Executive Head Chef Sean Davies (pictured), is a range of high quality hot sandwiches, made to order from premium quality ingredients on excellent breads, matched with a selection of sauces, pickles and dressings.
Somerset House Ice Rink, sponsored by Tiffany & Co, is set to be the most sparkling and glamorous the capital has to offer.
Highlights of the tasty hot sandwich lunch offer include fillings such as honey roast shoulder of salt marsh lamb, slow roasted organic pig or herring and soy fishcake.
Vegetarians can choose from roasted aubergine with basil or grilled Portobello, taleggio and thyme.
Visitors will be able to match their filling to a selection of breads including potato, mustard and dill rye or a traditional white flour bap and try the homemade chutneys, sauces and pickles which include pickled carrot relish and apple and fennel chutney.
A selection of soups will also appear on the menu, changing weekly, and will include hot and sour prawn soup with lime and lemon rind, celeriac and pear or pumpkin, yoghurt and apple.
An indulgent array of homemade cakes and biscuits such as sticky ginger fudge cake and mince pies make the perfect respite after an exhilarating skating session or a long day's Christmas shopping.
Smaller portions of adult sizes are available for children.
Visitors will be given a wide choice from breakfast right through to late evening when cocktails and warming snacks will be available.
The drinks list has been specially selected by Tate's award-winning Head Sommelier, Hamish Anderson.
The unique mulled wine recipe continues to be a crowd-pleaser and this year real ale from the iconic London brewer Fullers is also on the list.
The British beer revival is in full swing and these beers work well with both the menu and the Somerset House Ice Rink.
A carefully sourced selection of wines and spirits from Tate's legendary wine list feature strongly on the drinks list.
Hamish has also created a special festive menu of soft drinks and smoothies including Rock's organic Christmas cordial and Benson's farm apple and cinnamon juice as well as hot drinks such as Monbana hot chocolate and London Toddy.
