Made in Brazil
THINK of Brasil and one thinks of samba dancing, carnival queens, barbe-cues and endless parties.
On Inverness Street in the heart of Camden Town, there is a superb replica in Made In Brasil which calls itself "The House of Caipirinha".
Caipirinha is the classic cocktail that originates from Brasil using their home grown sugar cane derived spirit Cachaca muddled with fresh lime and sugar, topped with crushed ice.
Made in Brasil has some 30 variations of the classic including a very inspired Chilli Pomodoro Caiprinha.
It boasts the largest collection of different Cachacas in Europe.
Brasilian food cannot be understood without its origins.
Traditionally heavy and basic, it fed the poor families and farmers throughout the region.
European, Japanese and Indians from the sub continent, Africans and Chinese have all had a say in the way the cuisine has developed.
Barbecued dishes such as the mixed meat platter and the barbecued sirloin steak are prepared well with hardly any seasoning except sea salt.
Mocqueca - a seafood and fish stew served with steamed rice and salad is elegant.
And save that space! The desserts are extremely good.
Made in Brasil makes the most wicked Peach and Raspberry Tiramisu and try the Strawberry and white chocolate cheesecake with crème anglais.
To accompany the meal, the management has thrown in live music as well almost all nights.
After a few caiprinhas, samba dancing is certainly the order of the day!
