E LEGANT and understated are two words often used to describe Black & Blue Steakhouse.

Elegant references the interior design, with highbacked comfortable leather booths, warm wood panelled walls, marble topped tables, and paintings by local Israeli artist Eitan Portnoy-Amir.

Understated refers to Black & Blue's approach to its menu, concentrating on classic dishes, using only the highest quality ingredients and preparing them simply to perfection.

Black & Blue offers a traditional American steakhouse experience with a selection of premium cuts available including sirloin, T-bone, fillet, rib-eye and côte de boeuf.

The burgers are also a house speciality with a variety including ‘the classic', bacon and cheese, guacamole or a foie gras burger - and they have the best vegetarian burger in town! The Belsize Park restaurant has recently added traditional pork BBQ Ribs to the menu - a runaway hit.

Diners can select dishes from the grill like lamb cutlets and chicken Genovese with basil and pesto.

There is also a fine selection of fish, which includes tuna steak, salmon and grilled king prawns, as well as an array of salads.

All ingredients are sourced with great care, with the beef traditionally reared and grass-fed from fully traceable stock, before being dry-aged and tenderised for a minimum of 28 days.

Black & Blue is a family operated business.

In addition to the restaurant located on Haverstock Hill, close to the tube and next to the Screen on the Hill cinema, there are also sites in Notting Hill Gate, Gloucester Road - South Kensington, Wigmore Street and Borough Market.

At all restaurants, diners are greeted by flaming torches and brightly painted, life-size fibre-glass cows!
